Call to Entry
Seattle: The 2014 Pacific Coast Oyster Wine Competition is underway! CA, OR and WA wineries are invited to submit entries to this popular annual dating service for West Coast wines and oysters. Typically "oyster wines" are dry, crisp, clean-finishing white wines. Judges include well-known food and wine media, restaurateurs, retailers and other oyster-loving individuals without winery affiliations. The Competition, organized by its founder, Jon Rowley, Jon Rowley & Associates of Seattle and sponsored by fifth-generation Taylor Shellfish Farms of Shelton WA, will select ten equal winners for the prestigious 2014 Oyster Award.
Submit your wines for entry in the competition!
With oysters on the half shell one of the fastest growing restaurant trends, Oyster Award-winning wines enjoy immediate sales results.
Wines are judged blind, each with at least one Kumamoto oyster. Judges rank what we call the "bliss factor", or how the wine exalts the oyster. Deadline for Entries is 6:00 pm, Friday, February 21. Preliminary judging takes place in Seattle March 3-11. Five veteran preliminary judges will select 20 wines for the Finals which will be held April 8 at the Water Grill in Los Angeles, April 9 in San Francisco (venue TBA), and April 10 at Anthony's Homeport at Shilshole Bay in Seattle with a panel of 12 well known judges in each venue. Scores in the three cities will be combined to select the 2014 Oyster Award winners.
Taylor Shellfish Farms is a fifth generation family-owned company producing Manila Clams, Mediterranean mussels, geoduck and oysters for national and international markets.
